Welcome to our first four opera season! This October, we’ll open our 46th season with fan favorite Tosca. The season continues in February with Maria de Buenos Aires. Piazzolla’s only opera, the story goes that he composed his surrealist depiction of the titular Maria’s sleepwalk through violence, death, the afterlife, and rebirth, entirely on the bandoneón. We’ll then jump right into Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio, our first opera cast entirely from our talented pool of apprentices and in the spring, we’ll bring you the New Mexico premier of Wagner’s Lohengrin. Our pioneering reconstruction of the lost orchestration from the 1850 Weimar premier conducted by Franz Liszt will revisit the intimate and historically accurate masterpiece for an epic close to the season.
